Ενάμισι μήνα πριν τη τελετή της απονομής, που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 24 Φεβρουαρίου, ανακοινώθηκαν οι φετινοί υποψήφιοι.

Με το «Lincoln» να σαρώνει στις υποψηφιότητες τουλάχιστον, το ότι είναι εποχής ίσως του δίνει βέβαια κάποιο αβαντάζ σε υποψηφιότητες κουστουμιών, μακιγιάζ κλπ. Ενώ το «Silver Linings Playbook» έχει πάρει υποψηφιότητες σε όλες τις “μεγάλες” κατηγορίες, μεταξύ των οποίων και καλύτερης ταινίας φυσικά. Οπότε κοντράρει έντονα το «Lincoln» παρά τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες του πρώτου.

Και το «Beast of the Southern Wild» αν και έχει τις λιγότερες υποψηφιότητες ως καλύτερη ταινία φέτος, πήρε τις διόλου ευκαταφρόνητες σκηνοθεσίας, σεναρίου και γυναικείας ερμηνείας, για τη νεότερη υποψήφια στην ιστορία των Oscars, Quvenzhane Wallis.
