Melancholia… a greek word for depression
is a movie directed by the eccentric Lars Von Trier. This movie differs from the others that have been made by the same director. The movie is about the End of the World and the depression that is being born when all the heroes realise that the end is near. It is not a disaster movie. Lars Von Trier is trying to show the viewers the superficial way of living and the ''emptiness'' that all of us live in. Having 2 extremely good actresses that travel each one of us to his inner sentimental problems and fears, the movie leaves us with a feeling of gratitude that we are still alive and that all of us should live every moment of this short life.
Great actresses, great photography, atmospheric music, slow frames, the best scene of the End of the World that we have seen so far and all the depression of the director in one worth seen movie. You shouldn't miss it. Definitely goes for an academy award.
